Moray’s new maternity service
Building a new maternity service for Moray and The North of Scotland
NHS Grampian and NHS Highland have joined forces to improve maternity care and better serve the needs of women and families across Moray and Highland. Currently many Moray women have to travel to Aberdeen to give birth.
By introducing an innovative new networked approach to service delivery, this will enable more choice for Moray women.
The ultimate aim – consultant-led obstetric births at Dr Gray’s Hospital – is scheduled to begin within 2 years with services introduced in a gradual way as we recruit key staff.
By joining our team, this is your chance to help deliver a vital new service right from the start and to help shape the future of maternity services in our area.

Recent progress
Moray now benefits from 3 additional senior midwives. This means that there is senior midwifery clinical leadership on shift at Dr Gray’s Hospital 24/7, and additional support is available for teams across the local area.
The team are also welcoming two new graduate midwives to the team as well as advertising opportunities for additional midwives in the coming months.
We are also thrilled to have recruited 3 new Obstetrician/Gynaecologists, one of which will have a networked role across both Dr Gray’s and Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
Fancy helping us build something special from the ground up?
