The Moray area is packed with employment opportunities across a whole range of industries and roles.

From digital technology and manufacturing to tourism and the space industry, Moray boasts a lively and active business community with opportunities to embark on new enterprises and carve out long-term rewarding careers.

Manufacturing, which includes the food and drink industry, remains the largest employer in Moray, providing almost 7,000 jobs in the region. Wholesale and retail trade is the second largest sector in Moray, accounting for 6,500 jobs in 2018. Another key industry is aerospace and defence with the Ministry of Defence investing £3 billion in the area over the next few years.

A career in education or early years

Scotland does have different professional bodies for some professions and while some qualifications require a short period of re-training on Scottish specific elements, it doesn’t act as a barrier to immediate employment.

Moray Council, for example, will employ a teachers qualified elsewhere and support them through the registration process.

From entry level to school leadership positions, there is no shortage of vacancies and the area welcomes the fresh perspective and new ideas.

Moray has 45 primary schools and 8 secondary schools and in 2016/17 the eight secondary schools produced 928 school leavers. Some 90.7% went on to further or higher education or to gain employment.
